General Information

Dragons are immortal beings that have existed longer than any legend, myth or historical article can estimate. As of the events of the Dragonspire, it is widely believed that dragons are all but extinct, or perhaps slumbering, hidden away from the areas inhabited by mortals.

Aside from the Gods, dragons are by far the most powerful beings (as a whole) in the entire world of Mithnir. They can be of any alignment, but most generally disdain mortals. Some may have faithful mortal worshipers or followers, but this was less common. Dragons have been known to interact with mortals willingly at times, but once again, this was very rare.

Types of Dragon

Dragons come in many shapes and forms, and there are many kinds.

Drakes

Drakes are the most common type of dragons. They have four legs and a set of wings, and can have two colors to them, if they are the lesser spawn of two dragons. No other dragon can have more than one color.

Dragons

The basic dragon is a large, powerful creature. It is similar in shape to a drake, but possesses a far more intimidating and rugged appearance and is significantly larger. Weaknesses and strengths of color are more extreme.

Behemoth

Massive dragons of a size almost unfathomable by man. These dragons dwarf mountains and cities. These are by far the most powerful and least numerous dragons. They have four legs and massive wings.

Coatls

The smallest and weakest type of dragon. These are roughly twice the size of a person, and are long, feathery creatures, with large feathery wings. They are strong physically, able to constrict and squeeze. They are also incredibly fast and agile.

Shinons

Shinons are long, serpentine dragons with two arms and no wings, and antlers. They are the third largest dragon after behemoths and wyrms, due to the sheer length of their bodies. They are intensely powerful, and hold the strongest attunements to magic.

Wyrms

Larger than behemoths, though not as powerful. These do not fly, and rather 'swim' through the earth and the deep places of the ground. They are incredibly strong physically, and are one of the most cunning types of dragon. Wyrms are almost as rare as behemoths.

Wyverns

Frail dragons with very little magical attunement other than their color. They are slightly smaller than drakes, though far more agile and quick. They have two legs, and wings.

Tarasques

Thick, bulky creatures that hold a strong, hard shell like that of a turtle. They are powerful land-dwelling beasts with two thick, trunk-like arms and legs of a more stubby length. They have short, thick necks, and powerful, bulky jaws.

Leviathans

The largest dragons in the world, they exist in the deepest, darkest parts of the ocean, where their size and power is uncontested. They, like the shinons, are serpentine in shape, though with no legs. These sleek creatures bristle with fins and tendrils, and are covered in brilliant glowing markings.

Nihilogs

Terrible dragons of a purely destructive nature. They maintain their immortality by constant feeding, and its feeding method depends on its color. These are the vultures of dragonkind, often regarded as the least intelligent and most beastial dragons.

Dragon Queen

Such a terror is the dragon queen that even behemoths tremble at its call. Its size dwarfs any other dragon, and its power puts all other dragons to shame. It holds two colors, black and gold. There has only been one dragonqueen in all history, recorded or mythical, and her defeat came at the events of the Dragonspire.

Color

Dragons are governed by a given color, which determines the nature of their powers.

Red

Red dragons breath fire, and are resistant to heat. These live in volcanoes, deep underground, or in burnt, ruined lands.

Blue

Blue dragons breath water, and are adept at swimming. These tend to live in oceans, lakes and anywhere water is found.

Black

Black dragons are incredibly durable, armored, heavy creatures. They are extremely difficult to even hurt, and tend to be slower, and less agile.

White

White dragons breath frost, and are immune to frigid temperatures. They are fairly well armored by their frozen carapaces. They live in frozen lands and in arctic environments.

Bronze

Bronze dragons are electrically charged, and vulnerable to water. As such, they cannot swim, though they excel at high-altitude flight, and are frighteningly fast.

Green

Green dragons have powerful, windy breath. They are able to regenerate quickly, and are more vulnerable internally than other dragons. Their blood is a universal cure, and can grant longevity if repeatedly consumed.

Gold

Gold dragons have the power to mesmerize mortals with their breath. They are unable to heal their wounds naturally. They are the rarest color of dragon.

Silver

Silver dragons have the ability to shoot powerful beams of light, and are very resistant to magic. They are, however, more physically frail.
